Statement
This interactive installation invites users to explore this act of remembrance through technology. By engaging with AI, participants recreate the intimate process of reconnecting with a lost loved one through the gesture of portraiture.
Exhibition Overview
At the start, participants draw the face of someone they wish to remember on a digital tablet. As they sketch, an AI interprets their strokes in real time, generating a lifelike rendering of the imagined face.
The evolving portrait is projected live, allowing viewers to witness the interplay between human memory and machine interpretation as the face emerges—a dynamic search for connection through technology.
Execution & Media
The AI driving the installation was programmed to analyze and interpret digital drawing strokes, reconstructing them into realistic portraits.
The training process involved hundreds of digital drawings in various styles, alongside original portraits, enabling the AI to generate lifelike images from diverse inputs. This blend of human creativity and machine learning forms the foundation of the experience.
